In order to continue to improve CCHMC’s security posture and further protect our research participants’ data, we have enabled Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Redcap. This will greatly reduce the risk of a user account being compromised and providing unauthorized access to the system and our participants’ data.
REDCap now requires the use of Cisco Duo MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) to access REDCap (https://redcap.research.cchmc.org) as of Tuesday, Jan 11th, 2022. This change applies to CCHMC and External REDCap users. UC REDCap users will continue to use the UC MFA and will not see a change.
If you haven't already, you will first need to configure your Cisco DUO account. You may have already done this for other applications, such as eRA Commons.
If you have not configured Cisco Duo as MFA before, please visit https://mfa.research.cchmc.org to get your MFA setup. Please refer to the step-by-step instructions here: Duo MFA Registration.
Also, please refer below for guidance on what the login process looks like. The screenshots show when Duo MFA kicks in during the authentication process.
It should also be noted that with this change, your MFA authentication will be good for 30 days on your device, so you will not need to do this each time you log in to the REDCap application, but only when the authentication expires and/or you login from a new device. For any assistance with this change, please reach out to help@bmi.cchmc.org.
