Adding time to a date field should be simple, but in REDCap it requires the use of an external module.  This is a demo and step by step guide on how to use this module. 

The first step in the process is to create two date fields.

  1. create a "field to Read the Date From" or the initial date:

2. create a "Destination Field" which will display the date plus or minus the days required:

3.  E-mail help-REDCap@bmi.cchmc.org and request to have the Date Calculation External Module added to your project

4. After it's added, go to External Modules in your project 


5. Select 'Configure' next to the module 


6. Then define the "initial date" the "destination date" and the "Days To Add/Subtract from Source Date" and save 


7. This will create a field that will automatically add three days to the initial date value when a user clicks in the field to generate the date.
